Angus Cameron

Principal Lawyer | Director

Angus is recognised by the Law Institute of Victoria as an Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law and he is listed as a recommended criminal defence lawyer by Doyle's Guide. He has expertise in all areas of criminal law, having acted for clients across manifold, complex matters including murder, drug trafficking, dishonesty and sexual offending.

Angus has been a practising criminal defence lawyer since 2018. He began his career at Fitzroy Legal Service where he developed a specialisation in defending people accused of drug offences, property offences and all forms of assault. In that role, Angus also developed specialist knowledge in the relationship between drug use, mental illness and Victorian criminal law.

Between 2020 and 2022, Angus worked as a Senior Associate for Matthew White, a respected private practitioner who was appointed as a Magistrate in 2022. Following that appointment, Angus took over as the firm’s Principal and we now trade as Angus Cameron and Partners.

During his time as a Senior Associate, Angus appeared in countless Magistrates’ Court hearings, relating to all manner of offences, including: drug trafficking, burglary, aggravated burglary, charges involving injury and serious injury, sexual assault, robbery, theft and family violence.

After becoming Principal, Angus developed a practice in appearing as counsel in committal hearings and County Court trials. Over the years, he has appeared in numerous contested committals for matters including aggravated home invasion, aggravated carjacking, armed robbery, intentionally causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence and rape. More recently, Angus has appeared as counsel in County Court jury trials for rape and violence.

Outside of his practice as an advocate, Angus works with some of Victoria’s leading barristers on major criminal trials. As a solicitor, Angus has defended people at trial accused of large-scale fraud, murder, rape, commercial drug importation and large commercial quantity drug trafficking.

Angus' depth of experience puts him in an excellent position to provide our clients with firm, strategic advice when considering any forensic decision, whether that be dealing with a police investigation or conducting a jury trial. Clients who engage Angus to appear on their behalf will also benefit from his years of experience as a courtroom advocate and his familiarity with the bench across all Victorian criminal jurisdictions.
